Solomon Islands High Commissioner to New Zealand Meets with Chief of Protocol

On Friday the 6th of June, His Excellency Ishmael Avui met with New Zealand's Chief of Protocol, Mr. Jeremy Clarke-Watson, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade in Wellington. 

The meeting follows a ceremony in Honiara on the 3rd, with Solomon Islands Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele commissioning His Excellency as the Government's diplomatic representative to New Zealand. 

His Excellency's meeting with the Chief of Protocol kickstarts his official engagements. Mr. Clarke-Watson briefed the High Commissioner on the next series of ceremonial events - including the presentation of letters to New Zealand's Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Christopher Luxon, and a welcome ceremony hosted by Governor General Dame Cindy Kiro. His Excellency was farther advised on the extent of engagements that he is permitted to carry out while awaiting on a confirmed date for the presentation of letters. 

His Excellency is settling into his diplomatic post, and looks forward to fulfilling the duties delegated to him as High Commissioner.
